Our community has had only one Public School. It is situated in the northwestern part of the village and is built on a small hill that offers a spectacular view of Stavrovouni and of the sea. The Kivisili elementary school was first run by the Turkish-Cypriot residents which were the native residents of the village. However, after the invasion of the Turkish forces in the island in 1974, they left the community moving to the northern part of Cyprus, thus leaving the school to be run by the Greek-Cypriot fugitives who moved there between 1975 and 1997. In 1997, by decision of the Ministry of Education and the school¢s Parents Council, the school closed down permanently due to the small number of students.
